A captain is a neighbor(s) on your block who agrees to keep track of what is going with CWOPNA. They help to make sure there is communication to and from CWOPNA and your block.
They generally help communication and important conversations about our neighborhood and the Village overall take place by being in touch with neighbors. Captains are not the complaint center - but they can collect ideas and concerns and share it with CWOPNA.
An hour or two a month, most months. Less in winter. There's no meeting you have to attend and no minimum you have to do — a block with a captain who mostly forwards the occasional email is still better off than a block with nobody.
CWOPNA is signing up block captains block by block, and most blocks are still open. If you'd take yours — or you just want to know whether your block already has someone — send us a note and say which block you're on.
We'll publish the list of covered blocks here as it fills in.
